Yancey County Schools

Virtual Learning Days March 16 - May 15

YCS Student Work - Completed work drop-off and next 2-week learning packet pick-up:

Tuesday March 31st - 4:00-6:00 p.m. and Wednesday April 1st - 8:00-10:00 a.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m.

You may also pickup band instruments, books and devices.

High School - Report Card and Registration Packet pick-up

Kindergarten and First Grade - iPad pick-up - Second Grade - Chromebook pick-up

Food Distribution Information


We can provide breakfast and lunch for all children age 18 and under.

Our distribution centers are:

Blue Ridge Elementary School (828-682-8150)

and East Yancey Middle School (828- 682-2281).

Please call if you have questions or need to be added to the list. If you have not completed the School Nutrition survey, please do so.

Learning packets, books and devices can be delivered on the buses if needed. Please call your your child's school if he/she needs more resources for educational needs.

Teachers will be calling two times a week to check on the students and their needs.

For Immediate Release Yancey County Schools Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) March 4, 2020


With ongoing concerns over the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to share information about the measures Yancey County Schools practice to guard against this, and many other communicable diseases that are so prevalent this time of year.

YCS Administration and School Nurses are working closely with the Yancey County Health Department to continually monitor information provided by the local, state, and federal levels as well as the vast amount of information available from the CDC website. YCS will continue to diligently follow local, state, and federal health guidelines regarding appropriate protocol for any health-related concerns.

Yancey County Schools Launches “Say Something” Anonymous Reporting System

On March 5, 2020, Yancey County Schools is officially launching the “Say Something” Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS) for students, which most North Carolina public school districts will be adopting this year to meet the reporting guidelines and standards developed by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction and the Center for Safer Schools.
