FFA Plant Sale Fundraiser Saturday, May 4th 8:00-3:00
The Mountain Heritage High School FFA & Horticulture students invite you to their 2024 Greenhouse Plant Sale fundraiser! The greenhouse, located behind the school near the lower parking lot, houses some of the most beautiful hanging baskets and bedding plants in the county, just in time for Mother’s Day! See samples on the MHHS FFA Facebook and Instagram. Come early while supplies last! Opening day will be Saturday, May 4th from 8:00 am till 3:00 pm and will last for one week (Tuesday excluded due to our annual FFA Banquet) or until sold out. During the week you can come between 3:00-5:00 pm or by appointment during the school day. Email Nicole Robinson at snrobinson@yanceync.net to make an appointment during the school day. Profits from the fundraiser will go back into the Agricultural Program and receipts are available. Come buy vegetables and floral plants to support your local agriculture students. We have been known to sell out on the first day!
Plants & Prices include:
Hanging baskets: $15 if purchasing two or more, or $18 for one- Calibrachoas, Fuchsia (3 varieties), Wave Petunias, Bacopa, Wandering Jews, Sunpatiens, Edible Nasturtium, Ivy Leaf Geranium, Zonal geranium, Verbena, Angel Wing Begonia, Ferns, and Spider plants, English Ivy.
6 inch pots: $5 each if purchasing a flat of eight pots, or $6 individually-Sunpatiens, New Guinea Impatiens, Dracena Indivisa, Double impatiens, Vinca, Gomphrena, Sweet Potato Vines (2 varieties), Geraniums (zonal & interspecific), Angelonia, Gerber Daisies, Butterfly Bush, Coleus, Dahlia, Black Eyed Susan, Setcreasea purple, Begonia Tuber & Angel Wing, Coreopsis, Helianthus, Celosia, Snap Dragons, Nasturtium, and Black Eyed Susan.
4 inch pots (round & square): $3 each if purchasing a 1020 flat of eight pots, or $4 individually: Coleus, Celosia, Angelonia, Gomphrena, Ageratum, Wandering Jew, Vinca, Snapdragons.
Other pots- Approx 8 inch $10-Dahlias & Dracaena indivisa.
Flats 804’s (32 plants) $15 per flat or 4 pack for $2: You can mix and match between vegetables & flowers-Salvia (red & purple), Snapdragons, Zinnia, Lavender (Munstead), Marigolds (African & French), Impatiens, Coleus, Pansies, Vinca, Gomphrena. Cabbage, Broccoli, Squash, Slicing Cucumbers, Pickling Cucumbers, Okra, Spinach. Tomatoes: Roma, Organic Cherokee Purple, Mr. Stripey, Better Boy, Beefsteak, Golden Jubilee, Heirloom Pink Stripey and Yellow Stripey, Cherry Grape tomatoes. Peppers: Banana, Jalapeno, Big Bertha, Sweet Rainbow Blend, Habanero, and Jalapeno. Several herbs.

Flats 1801 succulents: $2 each or $30 per flat

Yancey County Schools Launched “Say Something” Anonymous Reporting System
On March 5, 2020, Yancey County Schools officially launched the “Say Something” Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS) for students, which most North Carolina public school districts have adopted to meet the reporting guidelines and standards developed by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction and the Center for Safer Schools.
